April Updates: Fingers-Crossed!

April has arrived and it seems like the perfect time to put some upcoming dates on everyone’s radar. On the docket for this month are our annual league meetings, the Dogfight, the Icebreaker Scramble, and our opening day.

Spring is pushing through!

Upcoming League Meetings

Our league meetings are almost here, and we’re looking forward to seeing both returning and new members. The meeting for each of our distinct leagues will be slightly different but all cover the same general points: Updates, schedule, format, and taking votes on changes.

The dates and times for the league meetings are as follows…

Men’s Twilight League Meeting: Tuesday, April 15th – 6:00pm

Men’s Day League Meeting: Wednesday, April 16th – 9:00am

Ladies’ Twilight League Meeting: Wednesday, April 16th – 6:00pm

Thursday Open League Meeting: Thursday, April 17th – 6:00pm

These meetings are also the perfect place to find a partner if you are new to CKCC or you’re dipping your toe in our leagues for the first time.

We will have the bar open with some light snacks for every meeting, we look forward to seeing you!

The Dogfight: A Season-Long Competition

Have you ever felt a burning desire to see your name plastered on the wall in brilliant black sharpie?

If so, you want to get in on the Dogfight. This season-long competition starts the first day we are open and lasts until one week before the championship. To get entered into this competition, sign up at the Pro Shop. Entry is $20 per flight entered.

Once you’re signed up, submit every good nine-hole round you play. If your score is lower than the highest score currently on the board, your name and score gets added. Each leaderboard by the bar has enough room for 10 scores and ties with the highest score. If your score gets knocked out, don’t worry, you can keep trying for a better score!

At the end of the season, the scores that remain on the board for each flight will face-off in a 10-person match play event. The last person standing wins the lions-share of the pot and their name on the Dogfight trophy.

The Icebreaker Scramble

Are you ready to show off your skills, honed for months smashing balls into a simulator screen (or not at all)? Great news! Sign-ups for our annual Icebreaker Scramble are open as of Monday, April 7th!

You can register your foursome with the Pro Shop by sending an email or signing up in-person when we open fully. In your email, please include a timeframe of when you would like your tee time to be. We cannot guarantee specific times, but will do our best to accommodate everyone!

For those unfamiliar, the Icebreaker is our annual four-person scramble that starts the season off with a bang. Teams can be any makeup of handicap or gender and will be flighted based on combined handicaps.

A reminder for everyone this year. CKCC members are automatically provided with a GHIN card when they join our club. Your GHIN card is used for tracking your official handicap. To qualify for net prizes in any of our tournaments, participants must have an up-to-date handicap.

If you are wondering what it takes to have an up-to-date handicap, it’s pretty easy! Download the USGA GHIN app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Log-in using your GHIN number (provided by Cedar Knoll) and post your scores whenever you play a format with your own ball.

If you struggle with technology, let us know, we can give you a hand setting up the app or getting your scores posted.

Opening Day?

Let’s be real with ourselves. You read this post to find out when opening day is. You’re not that slick!

Unfortunately, we cannot provide a definitive date on when the course is going to open. Persistent cold weather at night and oftentimes during the day makes it hard to open the turf for play. We want to ensure the best possible conditions and opening too early could really hurt conditions down the road.

Just know that the course is in phenomenal condition and is going to be ready at the drop of a hat. The drop of a hat that we are looking for would be a week forecast with no rain or hard frosts!

Keep posted to social media and our email communications. These will be the spots where we announce the day and hour of our opening for the 2025 season!

That’s All, For Now…

These items are all we really have to share at the moment, just keep your fingers crossed for warmer weather so we can get out there!
